Build Your Bookable Talk Challenge from Charli Jane Speakers

Most speakers do not lose opportunities because their talk is bad. They lose them because nobody can tell what the talk is, who it is for, or what the room walks away with.

You know your material. You have lived it. But when someone asks what you speak about, the answer comes out long, or it comes out vague, and the person on the other end has to work to figure out whether you fit their event. Most of them will not do that work.

This Challenge fixes that in three days. Not by making you write a script, and not by handing you a template to fill in. By walking you through the decisions that make a talk clear, one at a time, until the whole thing is written down in front of you.

You have a topic but the talk keeps shifting every time you describe it.

You have spoken before and want a stronger, tighter version of what you do.

You freeze when a form asks for a talk title and description.

You are brand new and have no idea where to start building a talk.

What happens across the three days

Short teaching, then you build. Most of your time is spent deciding and writing, not reading.

Day one

Make the talk clear

Six decisions that give your talk a spine, guided one step at a time.

  • Who this specific talk is for
  • The problem it addresses
  • What is different for them afterward
  • Your one-sentence talk promise
  • Three title drafts from three angles
  • Your working title, chosen
Day two

Build the experience

The path your audience travels, from the first sentence to the last.

  • An opening hook that earns attention
  • Three main points, each with proof
  • A takeaway the audience can use
  • Transitions between the points
  • One moment the audience takes part
  • A closing that lands the promise
Day three

Make it planner-ready

The pieces that let someone else say yes without asking you five questions.

  • Your talk length and timing map
  • The three questions planners ask quietly
  • A planner-ready talk description
  • Questions you will get asked
  • Claims and sources to verify
  • Your finished blueprint

So you know exactly what this is

What it is

  • A guided digital experience you work through in your browser
  • Short teaching, then a focused activity, one at a time
  • Live views that show your talk taking shape as you type
  • Your work saved as you go, with a download you can keep
  • Built for business, healthcare, education, faith-based, wellness, nonprofit, and personal development speakers

What it is not

  • Not a course with videos to sit through
  • Not a word-for-word speech writing exercise
  • Not a blank template you have to figure out alone
  • Not a promise of bookings, and not a claim about who will select you
  • Not something that expires in three days, since you set your own pace

Try one piece of it right now

This is step four of Day One, the talk promise. Fill in three short answers and watch the sentence build itself. Nothing is saved and nothing is sent, so type freely.

Be specific. Not everyone who might attend.
Say it the way they would say it.
Something real, not something inspiring.
Or watch it work with an example:

That sentence is one of eighteen pieces you finish inside the Challenge. The other seventeen work exactly like this one.

Wendi McNeill, founder of Charli Jane Speakers.
Why I built this

I have been helping speakers find paid opportunities since 2002, and I have read thousands of speaker submissions. The ones that get passed over are rarely the ones with the weakest material. They are the ones where a planner could not tell, in a few seconds, who the talk was for and what the room would leave with.

That is a fixable problem. It is not a talent problem and it is not a confidence problem. It is a clarity problem, and clarity comes from making a handful of decisions in the right order.

So I built the Challenge I wish every speaker had before they filled out their first application. Three days, one decision at a time, ending with something real in your hands.

Questions people ask first

Do I have to do it in three days?

No. The days are the structure, not a deadline. Nothing locks by calendar date. Work through it in one afternoon or across two weeks, whatever fits your life.

What if I have never given a talk before?

That is fine, and the Challenge assumes it. Every step explains the idea in plain language first, with short examples from different kinds of speakers so you can see what a good answer looks like.

Do I need any software or an account somewhere?

No. It runs in your browser, works on your phone, and saves your work as you type. You can download your blueprint as a file any time.

Will this write my talk for me?

No, and it should not. You build the content through guided prompts. What you end up with is your thinking, organized, which is the part that makes it usable when you stand up to speak.

Will this get me booked?

Nobody can promise that, and I will not. What a clear talk does is make you easier for a planner to understand and consider, which is the part you actually control.

Three days from now, you could have a talk you can explain in one sentence.

Or you could still be describing it the way you have been describing it. The difference is about the price of lunch.
